My first inspiration was the use of skulls in rock band logo's and merchandise, i developed my design looking at tattoo art using skulls and roses particularly linked with the rock genre. I used autumn/winter flowers and more subdued colours to emphasize the contrast between the life, and death.

Love the echoes of the skulls faces in the ' faces' of the pansies! The sweet symbolic flowers so long associated with human emotion and thought provide a striking yet subtle contrast and symbiosis.
